In February 2025, SYNERGIES held its first Evaluation Workshop, an important milestone marking the first time the project’s results were shared beyond the consortium. Organised online by the Preparedness Case of La Réunion, the workshop focused on how the island tackles cyclone risk, using this scenario as a testbed for early versions of key SYNERGIES results.

Despite a lower turnout due to the approaching Cyclone Garance, the event saw active participation from both local stakeholders and members of the project’s Advisory Board. Three results were presented: the KB4ICC (Knowledge Base for Innovative Channels and Communication), the Navigable Atlas for community empowerment, and the Support System for integrating spontaneous volunteers.

The KB4ICC, being the most advanced, allowed for a hands-on session where participants could explore the tool’s interface and functionalities. The other two results, still in earlier stages of development, were introduced through brief demos and conceptual overviews, opening up valuable space for reflection and user feedback.

Participants provided insightful comments through interactive polls and online questionnaires. These inputs highlighted the perceived usefulness of the results while also underlining areas for improvement, particularly in simplifying interfaces and refining communication strategies to ensure clarity and accessibility.

This first Evaluation Workshop not only validated the project’s direction but also set the tone for future engagement. It showed the importance of co-design and direct user involvement in creating tools that are practical, usable, and tailored to real-world preparedness needs.
